FORMER Bachelorette star James McCoy Taylor has been arrested and charged with assaulting a 19-year-old college student.
James, 38, was taken into custody last week after police issued warrants for his arrest, The U.S. Sun can confirm.
The alleged incident happened in April, according to an arrest report obtained by local CBS affiliate KBTX.
He’s been accused of meeting the teen at a bar in the Northgate district of College Station, Texas, and bringing her back to his home, where he allegedly assaulted her and wouldn’t let her leave.
When police spoke to James about the alleged incident, he reportedly said the interaction was “enjoyable and consensual.”
However, the teenager had a different story. KBTX reported she felt “uncomfortable” after the Bachelorette alum “got a look on his face that frightened her.”
She also claimed that when she tried to leave, James allegedly forced himself on her, threw her to the ground, and groped her private area.
SCARY DETAILS
The woman told police she eventually broke free and escaped out the front door and into an Uber that was waiting for her, per KBTX.
After speaking with James, the police allegedly weren’t buying his story.
He was arrested early Sunday morning at a Northgate bar and booked into the Brazos County Detention Center on charges of assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint.
James was released on $8,000 bond.
Despite the detailed allegations, James has maintained his innocence and denied any wrongdoings.
“So let me get this straight. Not so much as a scratch on me as I showed to police via pictures of my whole body which was awkward, to say the least, and I’m a pretty big guy, but I was trying to ‘unlawfully restraint’ a girl and she just .. got away?” James wrote in a statement to KBTX.
“And walked right to her Uber right outside my House? With no injuries? Okay, got it. This makes tons of sense,’ Taylor wrote. “Trust me if there were any injuries they’d be all over the internet,” he added.
The alleged victim’s father told the outlet that his daughter transferred from Blinn College to a school in another state following the incident.
James mentioned in his statement to KBTX that the woman’s family confronted him about what happened.

“I would never hurt anybody. I’m nice to every person I meet. That’s my statement. Now go ahead and trash my life because you hate my political stances or for the views, you’ll get on TikTok,” the former TV personality wrote.
James is known for his Season 12 appearance on The Bachelorette, in which he fought to win JoJo Fletcher’s heart.
However, he’s since made headlines for his numerous run-ins with the law.
In 2022, James was arrested in College Station and charged of driving under the influence and the unlawful carrying of a weapon.
PAST CRIME
Police said that an 18-year-old woman, who was highly intoxicated, was a passenger in James’ car as he planned to take her back to her dorm room.
They claimed James became agitated, lashed out at the officer, and threatened to have him fired and press charges.
In 2023, James was found guilty on those charges and sentenced to five days in the Brazos County Detention Center.
He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, and his driver’s license was temporarily suspended.
