The hugely anticipated Atomic Heart is now out and available to play, and fans should know how to fix the FOV on PC by using flawless widescreen to change the slider.
Atomic Heart has been anticipated for many years and is the biggest day one release for Xbox Game Pass as part of its February 2023 lineup. The gameplay has been likened to BioShock, and it takes place in a ‘mad and sublime utopian world’.
It is now available on consoles and PC, and players on computer can use a workaround to change its FOV.
How to fix Atomic Heart FOV on PC
You change and fix the FOV of Atomic Heart on PC by using flawless widescreen.
Per Twitter user LtLippen, you can use this tool to change the game’s field-of-view in the absence of an in-game slider. They claim to have changed the field-of-view to the maximum and it allegedly looks and runs fantastic.
In addition, fans have vented on Reddit claiming it is very hard to play Atomic Heart on ultrawide. Comments in this Reddit thread also claim that the Flawless Widescreen tool has been a great workaround.
Why there is no field-of-view slider
Atomic Heart does not have a FOV slider in the game’s settings.
Revealing the full specs to Wccftech, Mundfish said there is no field-of-view slider because it ‘already features a wide FOV, higher than many other games’. Despite this brief explanation, it’s still disappointing that fans cannot just easily change field-of-view in-game.
Still, the flawless widescreen tool should work. A few issues may arise from having to use flawless widescreen, but it seems to have mostly worked flawlessly according to PC gamers.
Alas, there is no way at all to change field-of-view on consoles for PlayStation and Xbox. Atomic Heart has received mostly good reviews, and its story is roughly 25-hours long to beat although 100% completion takes much longer.
You can play Atomic Heart right now on PC via Steam.
