Brahim Diaz is an intriguing target for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly made a move for AC Milan’s Brahim Diaz amid claims from Fabio Capello that the playmaker has ‘completely changed’.

The Gunners are looking at midfield signings for the summer and appear to fancy Diaz.

Pianeta Milan carry information from Corriere dello Sport in which they suggest that Arsenal have asked for details about a deal for Diaz.

Diaz is only on loan at Milan from Real Madrid and the Spanish giants seem keen to sell for around €25million (£22million).

Milan are of course interested in signing Diaz permanently as the midfielder comes towards the end of three years on loan at the San Siro.

Yet it’s unclear whether Milan are ready to pay that kind of money for the Spaniard and that could allow Arsenal to swoop in.

Brahim Diaz could reunite with Mikel Arteta

This would be an interesting move for Arsenal especially after praise from Fabio Capello.

The former England boss has been quoted by Fabrizio Romano in recent days as saying that he thinks Diaz has ‘completely changed’.

Capello has suggested that he was wrong about Diaz having previously thought he wasn’t good enough for Milan.

Diaz has really improved in Capello’s eyes though and is constantly making a real difference for Stefano Pioli’s side.

“I was wrong about Brahim Diaz… I did not like him as a player, I thought he was not at Milan level,” said Capello. “But he has now completely changed, improved. Now he makes the difference,” he added.

Diaz has mostly played as a number 10 for Milan this season and he could play an interesting role for Arsenal.

The Gunners have two left-footed playmakers in Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira and Diaz would provide a right-footed option, likely floating around the left flank to cut in and cause mayhem.

That’s a different kind of role to the one we see from Granit Xhaka and Mikel Arteta may well know exactly where to use his compatriot.

Arteta worked with Diaz at Manchester City and could now chase another reunion.

Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have joined Arteta at Arsenal in recent times having worked with the Spaniard at the Etihad Stadium.

Those two signings have been a roaring success and Diaz – having really kicked on of late according to Capello – could have a similar impact for the Gunners.
