Alvin Martin now backs Arsenal to win the Premier League title after their 3-2 come-from-behind win against AFC Bournemouth. The result kept Mikel Arteta’s side five points clear.
The Cherries threatened to cause a shock in north London on Saturday after opening a 2-0 lead. Philip Billing broke the deadlock after only nine seconds and before any Gunners star touched the ball. Marcos Senesi (57’) would also double the south coast club’s advantage.
But Thomas Partey (62’) made amends for failing to track Senesi at a corner by pulling the Emirates Stadium natives back into the game. Ben White (70’) then scored his first Arsenal goal in his 69th outing. While Reiss Nelson (90’+7) caused pandemonium in stoppage time.

Mikel Arteta saw two substitutes secure Arsenal a 3-2 win vs Bournemouth
White and Nelson came off Arsenal’s bench to secure what seemed set to be an extremely unlikely win against Bournemouth. The latter’s goal came with the final kick of the game to continue a remarkable run of three goals and two assists in three league outings this term.
Nelson also scored twice and laid on an assist as Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 5-0 back on October 10. Arteta also fielded the 23-year-old as a stoppage-time substitute at Wolves on November 12. But he had not featured in the top-flight since due to a hamstring injury.

Alvin Martin backs the Gunners to win the Premier League title this season
Nelson’s substitute heroics, having also assisted White’s goal en route to Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth, also helped to convince Martin that Arteta’s team should now win the Premier League title this season. They rank five points clear at the top through 26 matches.
“Arsenal are going to be champions,” Martin told talkSPORT (04/03, 16:59). “The fans have been brilliant and the team have delivered!”
Manchester City had reduced Arsenal’s lead in the Premier League title race to two points earlier on Saturday after beating Newcastle United. The Citizens’ 2-0 result put pressure on the Gunners to deliver against Bournemouth. But Arteta’s squad ultimately sealed the win.
Edging the Cherries also saw the Gunners seal their 20th win of the top-flight term. Arteta only oversaw 22 wins during the entire 2021/22 season en route to finishing in fifth place.
