Pokemon GO’s latest bumper Community Day is here, with a potential of four new PVP candidates thrown into the mix, Slowbro and Galarian Slowbro and Slowking and Galarian Slowking – but are they good?
The four Pokemon evolve from either Slowpoke or Galarian Slowpoke, the latter of which debuted in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Both Pokemon will be spotlighted as part of March’s event.
Niantic has made evolving Galarian Slowpoke a little easier, thankfully, something which is required to get the Community Day move Surf. Usually, players would need to catch 30 Poison-type Pokemon to evolve Galarian Slowpoke, however, as there’s going to be an abundance of Psychic-types available during the three-hour window, players will need to catch 30 of those instead. We’re sure the Community Day Slow and Slower ticket will have you doing all of this.
But is that going to be worth your time? Let’s take a look at just how good Slowking, Galarian Slowking, Slowbro and Galarian Slowbro are in Pokemon GO and what their best movesets are.
Is Slowbro Good in Pokemon GO?
We’ll be using PVPoke as the basis of our analysis of each of the different Pokemon here.
According to the ranking site, Slowbro doesn’t do too great in the Great League, it comes in as the 303rd-best pick overall.
Slowbro is the 201st best choice in the Ultra League when powered up with XL Candy – not great.
Standard Slowbro comes in as the third-best Master League pick of this selection, ranking 355th, however, despite this, it’s still no good.
Is Galarian Slowbro Good in Pokemon GO?
Slowbro’s Galarian form is your best pick of the Slow Pokemon in the Great League, hitting the lofty heights of 233rd and picking up key wins against Venusaur and Azumarill, however, when all is said and done, 233rd isn’t great.
Galarian Slowbro performs slightly better than its standard counterpart in the Ultra League, coming in at 198th when powered up with XL Candy. It’s still not a great choice but can perform as a great foil to Pokemon like Cresselia and Tapu Fini.
Galarian Slowbro goes from best to worst in the Master League, dropping to 359th place overall.
Is Slowking Good in Pokemon GO?
The Slowking’s perform worse than their Bros in the Great League, with standard Slowking coming in at 310th place in the Great League.

Slowking is your best bet in Pokemon GO’s Ultra League, coming in at 166th place. It’s not a game-changer but does pick up some strong wins against the likes of Talonflame, Nidoqueen, Swampert and Scrafty. It will need some XL Candies though.
This time out, Slowking ranks second of all of the Slow’s, coming in 339th place in the Master League.
Is Galarian Slowking Good in Pokemon GO?
Slowking’s Galarian form is miles below any of its other companions, coming in as the 474th-best pick in Pokemon GO’s Great League.
Galarian Slowking, once again, is significantly worse than every other Community Day Pokemon in the Ultra League. It comes in at a lowly 361st place in the Great League.
Despite its performance in the two lower leagues, Galarian Slowking fares best in the Master League, coming in at 319th place. However, because of the litany of Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in the League, it’s still not worth using.
Overall thoughts…
I’ll keep it simple – Neither Slowbro or Slowking, in either form, are good and none of them should be considered as viable PVP options in Pokemon GO.
