AMERICAN Pickers star Mike Wolfe has thrust himself into a new project amid claims he’s preparing to take a step back from the show.
The History Channel hit is currently struggling to draw in viewers, facing its lowest ratings after Frank Fritz’s exit.

Mike, 59, showed off his latest restoration project on social media.
The American Pickers star posted a photo of a rusty old car to his Instagram Story.
There was little to no paint left on the vehicle save for a few bright blue spots.
Mike captioned the post: @j3restorations Let’s Roll!”
He then posted another pic of a close-up of the back of the car, which had an emblem on it.
The TV personality wrote in his caption: “Pulled this car from a junk yard about 4 years ago.”
Mike shared photos of the inside of the car as well, revealing that it’s as barren as the outside.
Still, the Iowa native gushed over the vehicle writing: “Volkswagen Porn so [damn] early in the morning!”
The pic appeared to show a glimpse at the speedometer from a hole in the steering wheel.
Mike posted a video that showed a piece of heavy machinery lifting the car out of the junkyard it was found in.
NEW BUSINESS
Mike has been working hard on other ventures outside of the show and his antique shops.
In addition to restoring old cars, he’s been working on a vintage gas station in Columbia, Tennessee.
The reality TV star has been showing off his progress online.

On October 9, he bragged about how construction is going as he shared snaps of the work.
The Instagram photos showed a gated fence surrounding the construction area and unpaved ground.
A compact track loader was shown parked next to a massive white building with missing letters on the side.
The new station project is located near the full-service gas station Columbia Motor Alley, which is owned by the American Pickers star.
He captioned the post: “1940s Esso station project downtown @visitcolumbia is in full swing.
“This will be a courtyard and green space right in the heart of the Historic District, around the corner from @columbiamotoralley.”
Mike ended with: “These early Gas Stations, Service Garages, and Car Dealerships anchor the story of American transportation history.”
READY TO RETIRE
American Pickers has been facing tragic ratings as of late and that coupled with a lack of support from the network seems to be getting to Mike.
In early September, the show lead’s pal told The U.S. Sun: “I don’t know how long the show will last.
“I don’t know how long Mike and Robbie want to do this. I think they would like to retire at some point. It’s been 12 years.”
His friend continued: “It’s a strain on your life.
“They’ve done this a long time. When they’re around, it’s ‘Ah we’re on the road again. I ain’t got time to do this, I ain’t got time to do that.'”
The insider concluded: “It’s a love-hate like with any job.
“Some days, you don’t wish you had that job, and you could do whatever you wanted. Some days, you’re all excited about your job.”
