The first trailer for the upcoming Ahsoka series has launched to kickstart Star Wars Celebration weekend but the appearance of a pair of Sith warriors has left fans with plenty of questions.
“Wait, is that?” is a common phrase whenever a new Star Wars trailer drops and that was certainly the case on April 7 as Star Wars Celebration 2023 began with the arrival of the first teaser for Ahsoka.
The trailer packed in plenty to dissect as several familiar faces appeared in live action for the first time while fans were also introduced to some new characters, chiefly a pair of Sith warriors who have sparked lots of debate since the Ahsoka teaser landed.
Trailer recap
The release of the Ahsoka trailer was the perfect way for the 2023 edition of Star Wars Celebration to begin as it gave fans their first glimpse of one of the most hotly anticipated shows to come in the galaxy far, far away.
While not revealing too much, the teaser showed Ahsoka on the hunt for something or someone as she traveled to several new worlds.
To help with her quest, Rosario Dawson’s character sought reinforcements from a number of familiar faces from the Star Wars Rebels series, namely Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla and the mischievous droid, Chopper.
However, we also got our first look at the villains of the series, including a pair of red lightsaber-wielding Sith warriors as well as the back of a certain Grand Admiral’s head.

Who are the Sith in the Ahsoka trailer?
The Sith warriors in the Ahsoka trailer have been confirmed as Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.
Since the Ahsoka trailer dropped, speculation has quickly sprouted to suggest that the bearded Jedi could be the character Joruus C’baoth from Timothy Zahn’s Heir To The Empire book trilogy, especially as Ahsoka quotes that line in the trailer.

However, while there may be some similarities, the character in Ahsoka is Baylan Skoll who, according to a report from Making Star Wars, is a Jedi who was corrupted over time by the Dark Side, potentially by the Nightsisters of Dathomir, and now works with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Meanwhile, the other Sith we see in the trailer is Shin Hati, who is Baylan’s apprentice and a master assassin who could potentially be a Nightsister herself, owing to her pale appearance.
Shin is described in the report as cool, calculated and desperate to prove herself to both her master, Baylan, and Thrawn himself.
