As Arsenal find themselves sitting top of the Premier League, some fans may have forgotten about Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The Belgium international was offloaded by Mikel Arteta in January following some underwhelming performances for the Gunners.
Arsenal sent Lokonga on loan to Crystal Palace to learn from Patrick Vieira – one of the best midfielders to have played the game – and it seems to have benefited the £15m man as his displays stand out.
However, Arsenal supporters may never see him play for the Gunners again if one rumour is true.
What’s the story?
The Times believe that Arteta is likely to sell Lokonga this summer as he aims to recoup some cash for Arsenal.
It is said that the north Londoners still owe £180m from previous transfers.
Therefore – in order to ensure he can spend on reinforcements in the market, with Declan Rice his No.1 target – Arteta is thinking about sales. Kieran Tierney and Lokonga are among those who could be sacrificed.

If the 23-year-old continues to impress for Crystal Palace, you would presume that Vieira will attempt to seal a permanent deal, especially as the Frenchman’s midfield department at Selhurst Park is pretty thin.
When Lokonga last played for Arsenal
The £53,000-a-week man’s last appearance for Arsenal came in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City on Friday 27th January, where he was seen walking straight down the tunnel following a disappointing individual performance.
Some supporters criticised him for not coming over to them inside the Etihad Stadium after 90 minutes, although Crystal Palace fan favourite Yannick Bolasie – who knows Lokonga from his time at Anderlecht – explained what may have been going through his head.

On Twitter, Bolasie wrote: “He’s a young player. Many people have done this but doesn’t mean he’s being disrespectful, I think people just looking for opportunities to get on his back which I don’t think is fair. His qualities will shine through.
“I’m not disagreeing about clapping the fans, that should be set in stone. I’m just saying I know him and I know he expects a lot of himself because he’s a quality baller just wants to do well so badly for the club, sometimes in the moment head gets fried.”
Whatever happens at the end of the season, the main thing is that Lokonga is now finding some joy at Selhurst Park.
