16 AND Pregnant star Selena Gutierrez has publically spoken about her late ex Sean Garinger.
Last week, when Sean was 20 years old, his ATV flipped on top of him and crushed his skull – he died in the crash.
While talking to Daily Mail, Selena, 20, talked about his tragic death and the last time Sean got to see his two daughters.
She said: “Me and Sean weren’t on the best of best terms, but we had finally got on with our lives.
“We never really talked one-on-one, it was always through my sisters or his mom and he was doing better.”
Selena revealed that he was “over 200 days sober,” and he was able to visit his daughters a week before his death.
“I know from what his mom said he was happier than ever to see them,” the MTV star insisted.
“The girls loved him. He was planning to come back and see them on his own. “
Sean was also going to school and lived with his mother after he got out of rehab.
Selena added: “I wish we had got to have one more good conversation about everything.”
HEARING THE NEWS
When Selena heard that Sean was dead, she was in complete disbelief.
“I remember just being in shock saying, ‘No way, you’re lying.’ [My sister] was like ‘No, [Sean’s mom] just called me.'”
Even though Sean and Selena had a difficult relationship, she had a difficult time accepting the news and deciding how to tell their children.
She said: “No matter the circumstances that was my kids’ father.
“Not only was I with him for nine plus years, he was my first love, my first everything and we had two beautiful daughters that I’ll always be grateful for.
“They didn’t deserve this they need their daddy. I don’t know how I’m going to tell them when they get older.”
MOURNING MOTHER
Sean’s mother, Mary Hobbs, confirmed the tragic news to The U.S. Sun on Friday.
“I was with him when it happened. He was just moving [the ATV] from one parking spot to the next for me, so I could back into park,” she explained.
“He pulled [in] front of me to park the ATV and the ground gave way from all the rain and mud.”
She said the ATV flipped and “crushed” his skull.
“I ran to neighbors trying to get someone to help me get the ATV off of him. No one answered. I ran back to him,” she continued.
“By that time, I realized he wasn’t alive anymore.”
Mary, 40, shared, “I just laid next to him until the ambulance showed up.”
The mother and son had just gotten home from the car dealership prior to the ATV incident.
They were planning to buy a car so that Sean could drive to see his girls in Colorado where Selena lives, but they “never made it back to the dealership,” his mom added.
“There was a huge part of my heart that died with my son on Wednesday,” Mary told The U.S. Sun.
“He was my only son, my rock, my strength when I had none left.
“We loved spontaneously jumping in the car for a road trip or a beach sesh.”
“We bonded over music, fast cars, shooting guns, and taking new adventures,” she continued.
“Sean brightened my world in a way no one else could ever come close to. He was my baby boy, my squishy, my heartbeat.”
The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Boone Fire Department, and Watauga Medics responded to the accident.
