What is Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light?

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light is the new and final series of Wolf Hall.

After almost a decade break, the programme is back for another season.

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light is the second series of the BBC‘s adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s trilogy.

The first two books, Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies, were put together for the first series in 2015.

The author did not publish the final instalment of her trilogy until March 2020 which was eight years after its predecessor.

Peter Kosminsky has directed the new season.

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light will follow the last four years of Cromwell’s life.

There is a more diverse cast for the next instalment of Wolf Hall.

Mixed-race British actress Cecilia Appiah will be playing the role of Jane Seymour’s sister-in-law Anne, whose character name has been changed to Nan for the series.

Meanwhile Sarah Priddy, of Bahamian descent, plays their mother Lady Margery.

Director Peter Kosminsky said: “Casting Director Robert Sterne has done a truly extraordinary job assembling the most stunning cast with which I’ve ever had the privilege to work.

“Led by Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis, they’ve been drawn by the quality of Hilary Mantel’s writing and Peter Straughan’s adroit adaptation.

“Shooting in Tudor locations all over England and Wales, it is our privilege to bring Hilary’s last novel to an international television audience.”

Filming for Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light took place on location across England.

Wells Cathedral in Somerset appears in the drama as Kent’s Canterbury Cathedral.

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light will air on BBC One and iPlayer.

An exact date has not yet been anounced.

The series will consist of six episodes.
