Jack Reacher will be back to bash some more heads.
Reacher, the hit Prime Video series about a renegade ex-military cop with a talent for taking down bad guys, wrapped up its third season on March 27. But fans don’t have to worry about whether they’ll get to see more of the beefy Alan Ritchson character. The streamer has already renewed the show for a fourth season.
‘Reacher’ Season 4 is coming to Prime Video
Reacher, which is based on a series of best-selling novels by Lee Child, premiered in 2022. It quickly became a massive hit for Amazon, with fans praising the faithful interpretation of the iconic character. (A pair of Reacher movies starring Tom Cruise had been panned by many viewers, who felt the Top Gun star was not the right actor for the role.)
A second season of Reacher arrived in early 2023 and became Prime Video’s most-viewed release of the year. Those big audience numbers earned the show an early season 4 renewal months before season 3 premiered in February 2025.
“Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season,“ said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios.”
“Windows everywhere beware. Reacher Season 4 is official,” Ritchson wrote on Instagram. “What are you gonna give me if I spill the beans on the book?”
When will the new season of ‘Reacher’ premiere?
Reacher Season 4 will begin shooting sometime in 2025. A release date hasn’t been announced, but if the show sticks to its typical schedule, new episodes should arrive sometime in early 2026.
So far, Reacher has adapted three of Child’s novels: The Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Persuader. There’s no word yet on which title will be the inspiration for season 4. But Child has written (or co-written) 29 Jack Reacher books, plus a collection of stories, so there’s plenty of material to choose from.
Ritchson has said there’s one particular Reacher story he’s eager to tackle.
“My favorite book is Die Trying,” he recently told Men’s Journal. Die Trying the second book in the series and involves a radical militia attempting to secede from the U.S.
“I would love to see that happen,” he added. “And so far, there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not we should or should not. I guess we’ll see what the future holds. I’ll find a way.”
Amazon is also expanding the Reacher universe. A spinoff focused on Maria Sten’s Neagley character has been ordered to series.
Reacher Seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video.
