Why was Fetty Wap arrested?
On October 28, 2021, Fetty Wap and five others were arrested at CitiField in relation to then-alleged drug trafficking and conspiracy charges.
At the time, FBI Assistant Director Michael Driscoll said in a statement: “The pipeline of drugs in this investigation ran thousands of miles from the West Coast to the communities here in our area, contributing to the addiction and overdose epidemic we have seen time and time again tear people’s lives apart.
“The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become.”
On November 5, 2021, Fetty was released from jail after paying his bail amount of $500,000.
He also agreed to legal restrictions such as an electronic monitoring system.
On December 17, 2021, the rapper was detained again at Newark Airport after his ankle monitor sent an alert to police.
On August 22, 2022, Fetty plead guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl.
“He’s not cooperating. I want that to be very, very clear,” Fetty’s attorney Elizabeth Macedonio disclosed to a crowd of reporters.

When was Fetty Wap sentenced?
On May 24, 2023, Fetty was sentenced to six years in prison.
Previously, prosecutors argued the hitmaker should receive a longer sentence.
They claimed Fetty used his position as a celebrity to “glamorize the drug trade” while earning millions on music like his breakout single Trap Queen.
“Young people who admire the defendant and are considering selling drugs need to be sent a message that selling drugs is not a glamorous lifestyle,” said New York Eastern District Attorney Breon Peace.

Peace added: “These young people need to know that if they participate in that trade, they will receive lengthy prison sentences.”
