Why Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Isn’t Filmed at Her Real House

Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, has her cooking, gardening, and crafting in a stunning Montecito, Calif., home. But it’s not the one she and Prince Harry have lived in since relocating stateside. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, opted to film her new series on location. However, parts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s real house can be seen in With Love, Meghan.

Meghan didn’t film ‘With Love, Meghan’ at her real house to keep it a ‘safe haven’

In a People interview around the time of the show’s premiere on March 4, 2025, Meghan shared her reasoning behind not filming inside her real home. “I wanted to protect that safe haven,” she told the publication of the $14.65 million home she shares with Harry and their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

“We’re a close-knit family,” Meghan continued. “And I love those moments—putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day.”

“Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family,” she added. “And with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”

Harry and Meghan bought the property in 2020 after leaving royal life in England. It has nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a pool, playground, tennis court, and garden. It’s not hard to see why the grounds are what initially drew the couple to the home, as Meghan revealed in a 2022 interview.

The house on the show is an $8 million Montecito farmhouse rental

So, whose house does Meghan cook, craft, and garden in on her Netflix show? That would be the sprawling $8 million farmhouse owned by philanthropists Tom and Sherrie Cipolla, per Realtor.com.

Located just miles from Harry and Meghan’s actual home, the five acre property has four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and a separate barn. Meghan is often seen in the white kitchen worthy of any Pinterest board cooking up dishes with guests.

At one point she can also be seen enjoying the stunning views as well as lemon and avocado trees blanketing the grounds.

Parts of Meghan Markle’s real house occasionally appear on her Netflix show

Despite not taking cameras inside the home she shares with Harry on With Love, Meghan, the former Suits star does give viewers a glimpse of the property. Specifically, the grounds, taking Netflix’s filming crew to their chicken coop, garden, and orchard.

Meghan also included her and Harry’s children in the making of the show. “Archie did the [filming clapboard]! Sweet moments,” she said, noting they’d visit the set with their dad. “It was really special because up until then,” Meghan explained, “they hadn’t seen me at work.”

Watch With Love, Meghan Season 1 on Netflix. Season 2 of Meghan’s Netflix show, which has already been filmed, is expected to premiere sometime in the fall of 2025. Until then, Meghan has the release of her new podcast on April 8, 2025, and the launch of her As Ever lifestyle brand.
