Who was Jock Zonfrillo?
Jock Zonfrillo, also known as Barry Zonfrillo, was a Scottish chef, television presenter and restaurateur.
He was born on August 4, 1976 in Glasgow and at the age of twelve he started as a part-time dishwasher in the restaurant where his sister was working.
He then dropped out of school aged fifteen to start an apprenticeship in the kitchen at the Turnberry Hotel.
His start as a chef was not easy and he admitted he struggled with drugs and alcohol.


Later in life Jock founded the Orana Foundation, which focuses on preserving the unique cultural heritage of traditional Indigenous food culture in Australia.
Before his appearance in MasterChef he was seen in shows such as Nomad Chef, Restaurant Revolution or Chef Exchange.
In 2019, he joined MasterChef Australia as a judge and in 2020 he was announced as judge for Junior MasterChef Australia.
Jock died on April 30, 2023 in Melbourne.

What was Jock Zonfrillo’s cause of death?
Police found Jock at Zagame’s House hotel in Melbourne at about 2am on May 1, 2023.
Jock died of natural causes and nothing unusual or suspicious was discovered in the hotel room where he was found dead.
Was Jock Zonfrillo married and did he have children?
He had four children from three different marriages.
From his first two marriages, he had his two daughters, Ava and Sophia.
There is not much known about his ex-wives except that his first wife’s name is Kelly.
Jock married his third wife, Lauren Fried, on January 1, 2017, after meeting on Twitter in October 2014.
Lauren and he have two children together: their song Alfie, born in February 2018; and Isla, born in October 2020.
Alfie was born two months prematurely and weighed only 1.2 kg.


When was Jock Zonfrillo on MasterChef?
Before joining MasterChef as a host from series twelve to fifteen, he was a guest chef on the show for series six, ten and elven.
Jock also was a judge for the third season of Junior MasterChef Australia in 2020.
