Who is Plato Contostavlos?

Steve Contostavlos – or Plato – was renowned within the music scene during the 1970s.

He was a key part of the blues band Mungo Jerry.

It’s believed that Plato is around 65 years old.

Before heading into the jungle, Tulisa spoke about growing up with a music star dad.

Speaking to Fearne Cotton for her Happy Place podcast, she explained that she always knew she wanted to be a singer – which she went on to become.

Fearne said to Tulisa: “You grew up in a really musical household.

“Your mum was a singer, your dad was in Mungo Jerry and you had that sense that music was something that was important.”

Tulisa explained: “My dad had a little studio in Dollis Hill and he used to bring me there sometimes when he was working.

“He put me on the mic at the age of five. I was singing Little Mermaid.

“I just knew there was nothing else I felt passionate about.”

When was Pluto a keyboardist in Mungo Jerry?

Mungo Jerry gained massive success after landing the Number 1 hit In The Summertime in 1970, with Pluto on the keyboard.

Other hits from the band include Lady Rose and Alright, Alright, Alright.

Plato contributed his incredible skills to the group while his brother Byron – who is Tulisa’s uncle and Dappy’s father – played the bass guitar.

Tulisa’s dad reportedly was in the band in its early days with Byron – who tragically passed in the early days of N-Dubz.

It is unclear how long Pluto was keyboardist in Mungo Jerry – but it is know he was a valued member of the band.

Tulisa’s nepo-baby accusations

Some social media users accuse Tulisa and Dappy of being nepo-babies due to their star-studded backgrounds.

But others argue this isn’t the case.

Defending the pair and their bandmate Fazer, one fan pointed out online: “I think they technically aren’t nepo kids because N-Dubz first gained traction on pirate radio.

“But also Dappy’s dad was their manager and their first album was named after him.

“But yeah they weren’t even the main guys in Mungo Jerry, which no one cares about anyway.”
