Who is James Morrison?

James Morrison, born August 13, 1984, in Rugby, Warwickshire, is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

Throughout his singing career in the spotlight, Morrison has enjoyed both solo success, as well as helping other famous faces in the music industry.

In 2006, his debut single “You Give Me Something” became a hit in Europe, Australia, Japan, and Iran, peaking in the top five in the UK and claiming the number one spot in New Zealand.

A year later, in 2007, Morrison won a Brit Award for best British male, and in 2008 collaborated with Jason Mraz on the song ‘’Details in the Fabric’’ from the latter’s smash hit album We Dance, We Sing, We Steal Things.

The star’s hit songs include, You Give Me Something, Wonderful World, and Broken Strings featuring Nelly Furtado.

Aside from his own career, Morrison has also collaborated with some of singing’s biggest stars, including working as a songwriter for both Demi Lovato and Kelly Clarkson.

Who was James Morrison’s wife Gill Catchpole?

As well as finding singing success, Morrison was also lucky enough to find love.

The star was married to his wife Gill Catchpole until her death.

Gill was found dead at the family home in Whitminster, Gloucestershire on January 5, 2024.

A source said: “Gill was found dead on Friday at the family’s home in Whitminster.

“James is devastated and is being supported by his family.

“He is holding it together for their girls but has asked for the family to be left alone to grieve in private.”

Morrison’s 2019 album You’re Stronger Than You Know was dedicated to his late wife and her strength.

Do James Morrison and Gill Catchpole have any children?

As well as her husband, Gill is survived by the couple’s two daughters.

Their first child Elsie was born in 2008 and their second daughter Ada was born in 2018.

Gill had a difficult pregnancy with her second child and delivered Ada Rose when she was 16 weeks premature.

James told The Sun: “Thankfully I can look back and everything is sweet and rosy now. Ada-Rose has just turned one and is a normal, happy baby and Elsie, who’s now ten, is a great big sister.

“But when Gill’s waters broke and she was born so early and tiny, we didn’t know what was going to happen. That is probably the lowest I’ve ever been.’’

The singer added: “That’s why now, looking back, I called the album You’re Stronger Than You Know, as Gill was amazing.’’
