Born on December 11, 1967, Monique Angelica Hicks née Imes is an American actress and comedian mononymously known by her first name.
Hailing from Woodlawn, Maryland, she is the youngest of four children.
She attended Morgan State University but graduated from the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland.
After Mo’Nique left her position as a customer service representative for a phone company, she began performing professionally along the East Coast.
Soon enough, she was opening for comedians and appearing in television specials.
The comedian also started acting, she starred in five seasons as single mother Nikki Parker in the sitcom The Parkers.
The show idea was born from her guest appearance with Countess Vaughn in the TV program Moesha.
