Who is Judi Dench’s partner David Mills?

Judi Dench’s boyfriend David Mills began his career as a Dairy farmer and won awards for his herd of pedigree cows, before deciding to convert the land into a centre of Conservation.

David originally titled his new centre “Conservation Through Education”, before it became the British Wildlife Centre it is today.

It is now the UK’s biggest breeder of red squirrels, which have become rare across Britain after being overrun by their grey counterparts.

In 2016, David was awarded an MBE for his work.

When did David Mills and Judi Dench meet?

Judi Dench met her future boyfriend in 2010 when he invited her to open a squirrel enclosure.

The two reportedly hit it off right away, and have been together ever since.

In 2021 the couple revealed that they had considered tying the knot during the coronavirus lockdown, after reflecting on their relationship.

However, Judi and David ultimately decided against making their relationship legal.

Judi has been married before to fellow actor Michael Williams in 1971.

The pair remained together up until Michael’s death in 2001 and the two had one child together, Finty Williams.

What has Judi Dench said about her relationship with David Mills?

Judi prefers to keep her relationship largely private, but told Hello! in 2020 that she had a “jolly nice friend now.”

“One hot night during the summer, we swam and then had a glass of champagne in the garden and I said: “this is so fantastic.” But perhaps if I was a romantic I’d have been cool and calm about it.

“I get a bit over-excited about things. I love having a good laugh. A sense of humour is the most attractive thing of all. It’s essential.”
