George Michael passed away on Christmas Day, in 2016 and his funeral was held on March 29, 2017.
He was buried in Highgate Cemetery, North London, in a small intimate ceremony with close friends and family.
Highgate Cemetery holds the graves of many notable people.
People are able to buy tickets for tours of the cemetery and pay respects to the pop idol.
However, if you want to visit the late singer’s grave specifically, it’s worth knowing that you will need to put in a request as visiting his grave is not part of the usual tour that Highgate Cemetery offers.
Why was George Michael buried in an unmarked grave?
Unfortunately, his grave was left unmarked due to fears the grave would become a tourist attraction, but many fans felt that their idol deserved better.
His grave stone was unveiled five years after his death.
On the headstone, it now says his full name – Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou – as well as the Wham! star’s date of birth, 25 June 1963, followed by the date of his death, 25 December 2016,

What was George Michael’s cause of death?
George experienced some health problems before his death, including pneumonia which saw him go into a coma in 2011,.
But it was ultimately heart disease which led to his passing in 2016 at the early age of 53.
He was found lying peacefully at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
A coroner’s hearing found that the superstar’s heart was weakened and inflamed.
The medical term used was “dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and a fatty liver”.
