In a joint statement the Australian actress, 50, said: “It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing. We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other.
“Our kids are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit a different shape.”
Toni married David in 2003, a year after popular romcom About A Boy was released.
As her split proves, a lot can change in two decades. Here we take a look at what has happened to the rest of the cast.

Nicholas Hoult – Marcus Brewer

9
Nicholas, now 33, played socially awkward schoolboy Marcus in the film when he was just 13 years old.
It kickstarted his career and he’s since landed lead roles in edgy teen drama Skins, Hulu show The Great, the X-Men franchise and the post-apocalypse film Mad Max.
And it wasn’t just his work that caught the world’s attention – his dating life has too.
He dated Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence on and off for five years – around the time she became a target of a nude photo leak in 2014.
Someone hacked into her phone and lifted intimate pictures she’d sent to Nicholas.
“It’s shocking that things like that happen in the world. It’s a shame,” he told Good Day New York about the scandal.
After their split he went on to date American model Bryana Holly, 29, with whom he has a four-year-old son.
Rachel Weisz – Rachel

9
Since appearing in the film as Hugh Grant’s love interest, Rachel, 52, has gone on to have huge success both on and off screen.
She won Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars in 2005 for her role in The Constant Gardener and a BAFTA for best actress in a supporting role for The Favourite.
In June 2011 she married James Bond actor Daniel Craig, 54, and they have two children.
Her second child was a shock pregnancy when she was 48 – eleven years after they welcomed their first.
The pair met filming horror The Dream House and quickly became inseparable.
Despite being two of the most recognisable people on the planet, the couple keep their relationship very private.
But that didn’t stop Rachel from revealling their union came as a surprise to her.
“I never thought I would get married,’ she said. “It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn’t relate to romantic comedies — marriage seems to be the whole point of them.”
Natalia Tena – Ellie

9
Natalia played the role of Marcus’s first crush Ellie in the classic film.
Since then she has landed bigger acting parts and starred as Nymphadora Tonks in the Harry Potter film series.
Later she landed her second big role in a fantasy series as wildling Osha in HBO hit Game of Thrones.
Now 38, she is set to star in the Channel 4 dramatisation of the Wagatha Christie case as Rebekah Vardy – who was accused of selling stories to the press.
Natalia’s long-term boyfriend Sam Apley plays violin in Molotov Jukebox, the band she has fronted since 2014.

She also appears to have remained close with several co-stars from previous projects – and recently thanked Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton for including her in his autobiography.
Victoria Smurfit – Suzie

9
Victoria, 48, appeared in the film as Suzie, the initial love interest of Hugh Grant’s character Will.
Since appearing in the film, she’s had roles in ABC’s Once Upon A Time, Dracula and Marcella.
When she started her acting career she claims she was told if she wanted to have any success she should change her surname – which she refused.
Despite thinking she had found lasting love, Victoria and her husband Douglas Baxter divorced after 15 years – during which they had three children.
Talking about the split, she said: “When it first happened, I lost a tonne of weight, I couldn’t eat, I sort of felt someone had hands around my throat so even if I did put food in my mouth, there’s no chance of swallowing it. And I didn’t feel hungry for about nine months I think.”
Her family life has been far from smooth as her eldest daughter Evie has Stargardt’s Macular Dystrophy, an eye condition that leads to blindness.
Augustus Prew – Ali

9
Augustus, 35, played Rachel’s brattish son Ali in the film, who hated the idea of his mum having a new romance.
He was 15 in About a Boy, and has gone on to appear in several films and TV shows including Amazon’s The Lord of The Rings: Rings of Power.
He also acted alongside Zac Efron in Charlie St Cloud, and starred in Kick-Ass: 2.
After filming with Zac, he told how the High School Musical star used skateboards to escape the paparazzi.
He said: “He’s an amazing skateboarder, and actually when we were in Vancouver he went ahead of us on his skateboard because it meant that people couldn’t see him.”
Augustus came out as gay in his mid-20s and in 2018 he married American actor Jeffery Self, 35.
Sharon Small – Christine

9
Sharon, 55, appeared in the movie as Christine – one half of a married couple that are friends with Will.
By the time the film was released she was already a well-known actress thanks to her role as DS Barbara Havers in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries.
The Scottish actress has continued to appear on TV, most recently in London Kills as DS Vivienne Cole.
She is married to Dan Bridge, 49, a stay-at-home husband who looks after their two sons Leo, seven, and Zac, three.
The couple met through mutual friends but initially, Sharon didn’t consider dating Dan due to their six-year age gap.
She also claims she never saw motherhood in her life at first, but eventually decided she did want children.
Hugh Grant – Will Freeman

9
Hugh played the lead role of Will, a man who pretended to be a single parent in a bid to meet single mums.
He was already a household name for his romantic comedies when he took the part.
Seven years before the film came out, Hugh was caught in a scandal when he was arrested after cops saw him being given oral sex by a prostitute on Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard.
However, it didn’t tank his career and Hugh is still a worldwide movie star now, best known for his work in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually and the Bridget Jones film series.
Hugh was in a long-term relationship with Liz Hurley until 2000 but the pair remain on good terms and his is godfather to her son Damian.

in 2018 he married Swedish television producer Anna Eberstein, with whom he has three children.
He has two other children with Tinglan Hong.
