‘When Hope Calls’: Great American Family Reveals New Details About Season 2 

Great American Family has revealed more details about the second season of When Calls the Heart spinoff series When Hope Calls. The romantic period drama returns to TV after a long absence – and a network switch – on April 6. Fans will see some familiar faces as well as new characters in the season 2, including one played by 90210 and Days of Our Lives alum Trevor Donovan. 

A new mountie arrives in town in ‘When Hope Calls’ Season 2 premiere 

So, what can fans expect from the return to Brookfield in When Hope Calls Season 2? In the premiere, an unexpected family connection brings a lawyer named Nora (Cindy Busby) to town. 

“I knew your mother,” Nora tells Lillian (Morgan Kohan).

“My birth mother?” a stunned Lillian replies. 

Also new on the scene is Mountie Michael Fletcher (Christopher Russell). He’s filling for Mountie Gabriel (RJ Hatanaka), who has been called away on a secret mission. But even though Gabriel’s work has taken him away from Brookfield, his and Lillian’s love for each other is still strong, as he professes in a touching letter delivered by Mountie Fletcher. But Lillian is torn between her long-distance love and her ongoing duty to the orphanage founded by her and her sister, Grace. 

Meanwhile, Sam (Jon McLaren) returns from prospecting for gold and meets Maggie’s (Hanneke Talbot) parents. Also, Hannah Lawrence (Sarah Fisher) inherits her late uncle Ray’s ranch and tries to keep it, with the help of Wyatt (Nick Bateman). 

Trevor Donovan joins ‘When Hope Calls’ cast 

In episode 2, Nora helps a young blind orphan, Charlotte, find Tess’ (Wendy Crewson) missing foal. Maggie’s parents offer her an early birthday present, but she returns their gift because she realizes they’re attempting to use it to keep her away from Sam. Nora prepares to leave Brookfield to meet with a banker, but Lillian convinces her to stay until she can travel to London to be with Grace and Chuck, who are expecting a baby.

A teaser for season 2 also hints at a romantic connection for Nora and Michael and plenty of drama involving Ray’s ranch. Viewers will also see Donovan in a recurring story arc as a mountie from neighboring town of Clearwater who comes to town to help Mountie Fletcher protect the land and livestock from a band of ruthless cattle rustlers.
