Who will be the choirs at King Charles’ coronation ceremony?
A handpicked gospel choir called The Ascension Choir will perform at the coronation.
They will be joined by the Choir of Westminster Abbey and the Choir of His Majesty’s Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.
The Palace confirmed that “His Majesty has overseen, influenced and been personally involved in the commissioning process and the detail of the music programme, which will showcase and celebrate musical talent from across the United Kingdom and further afield.”
Who is Sir Bryn Terfel?
Sir Bryn Terfel will be giving the first-ever Welsh language performance at a coronation.
The soloist found fame in 1989 after coming second in the Cardiff BBC Singer of the World Competition.
He went on to win countless awards including British Artist of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards in 2000, and four Grammy wins including for best Classical Vocal Solo.
Who are The Westminster Abbey Choir?
Founded in the late 14th century, the Choir of Westminster Abbey is a world-renowned, all-male vocal ensemble.
It is made up of 30 boys and 12 professional adult singers, known as Lay Vicars.
The choir’s main function is singing in the Abbey’s daily services.

Who are The Ascension Choir?
The Ascension Choir have been chosen for the King’s ceremony.
They are a group of eight “hand-picked” singers from the choir that performed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding.
They were founded and directed by conductor Dennis Keene, one of the world’s leading professional choral ensembles.

King Charles has commissioned twelve new music pieces for his coronation, including six orchestral, five choral and one organ.
It is yet to be revealed what hymns will be sung at his coronation.

Make a Joyful Noise is the official coronation anthem.
It has been composed by West End and Broadway legend Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
It will be performed by Sir Webber, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Choir of Westminster Abbey, and the Trumpeters of The Royal Air Force.
