Who is comedian Katherine Ryan?
Katherine Ryan is a Canadian comedian, writer, presenter and actress based in the UK.
She has appeared on many British TV and radio shows such as 8 out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week and QI.
Katherine is a stand-up comedian and has appeared on the BBC’s Live at the Apollo.
The comic has also had two live specials released on Netflix, Katherine Ryan: In Trouble (2017) and Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room (2019).
As an actress, Katherine has appeared in numerous TV series in the UK including Campus and Badults.
She starred in the Netflix comedy The Duchess and is credited as a writer, executive producer and creator of the show.
Along with her acting and comedy work, Katherine had a weekly column with NME in 2015 and 2016.
She also lent her voice to the animated TV show Counterfeit Cats, where she voiced Ranceford.

Katherine claimed there is a “dangerous comic” in showbiz when she spoke on the latest BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs episode.

On the show, she told host Lauren Laverne that she had “wrestled” with whether she should work with a “dangerous” comic.
The comedian said she had to decide if she should work with “someone who I believe to be a perpetrator of sexual assault” – or turn down gigs.
She recalled: “I believe this person was or is dangerous.
“I had a choice. I could go and work with someone whom I believed to be a perpetrator of sexual assault, or I could turn down the job.
“Those were my options. So I wrestled with that. What am I meant to do in that instance?
“Do I meet someone that I think these things about?”
She continued on to say: “No I have never been assaulted.
“The choice is do I go to work with someone who I think is very problematic and do I stand there and laugh and smile and look like I’m allowing this kind of person to still be on television or do I stay home?”
She continued: “That’s what I wrestled with the most because I believe this person was or is dangerous but also what am I going to change if I stay home?
“So I decided, my compromise was that I’m going to go but let him know under no uncertain terms what I think of him, I’m not going to just smile and look like I’m allowing this behaviour.
“I’m not going to let him think that I don’t know and that everybody that he works with is just going to let him get away with it.”

In 2022, Katherine revealed that she had confronted a colleague in the past who she believed to be a predator.
At the time, Katherine could not name the colleague as it was a “litigious nightmare”, and she had never been assaulted by them.
