In a report on March 10, 2025, the outlet cited sources “connected” to Williams, 60, who shared that the former host of The Wendy Williams Show recently had an interview with APS.

APS is also said to have reached out to people close to Williams. They’ve called with questions about her living conditions at the New York assisted-living facility. Williams has resided there since her 2022 court-ordered guardianship began.

Williams was later diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Hr guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, also described Williams as “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated,” in court documents.

Williams resides in the facility’s memory unit, unable to leave the 5th-floor location without approval. This is said to be what multiple people close to Williams take issue with because they say she has no memory problems.

Not only has Williams spoken with APS, but so has her niece, Alex Finnie, who previously raised concerns about the guardianship. Finnie reportedly received a phone call from APS during which a “slew of questions” were asked about the restrictions placed on Williams as part of the guardianship. Additionally, the NYPD conducted a welfare check, visiting Williams at the facility.

The investigation may reportedly lead to a jury trial where Williams’ guardianship could be terminated. Previously, Williams opened up about her guardianship in a January 2025 phone interview. She called it “emotional abuse,” likening the facility where she resides to “living in prison.”
