Wendy Williams facing federal tax lien over $500K in unpaid taxes: report

Wendy Williams was reportedly facing a federal tax lien over more than half a million dollars in unpaid taxes, according to TMZ.

The longtime talk show host’s New York City condo — which she bought for $4.5 million in 2021 — is now under lien, per legal docs obtained by the outlet.

The government generated the lien in January and it was recorded with the New York City Department of Finance in early February.

Williams reportedly failed to pay her federal taxes — amounting to $568,451.57 — in 2019 and 2021.

Page Six exclusively reported in March 2023 that Williams was selling off some of her pricey belongings inside the NYC dwellings.

Reps for the comedian did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The shock jock was notably given a new financial guardian in February 2022.

The decision came after Wells Fargo deemed Willaims an “incapacitated person” in need of a guardian after her attorney Celeste N. McCaw filed an emergency petition claiming the bank had denied the TV host access to her “accounts, assets and statements.”

At the time, Williams’ former financial adviser, Lori Schiller, also alleged that the comedian was “of unsound mind.”

However, the mother of one made it clear that she did not want to be placed under guardianship — or think that she needed it.

“They say that I need somebody to handle my accounts, and I don’t want that. I want all my money,” Williams told “Good Morning America” in March of that year.

“I want to see all my money that I worked hard for my entire life. My entire life,” she continued. “I don’t lie, and I don’t cheat, and I don’t steal. I am an honest, hardworking person.”

Williams’ financial woes were also explored in her controversial Lifetime documentary, “Where Is Wendy Williams?”

In the multi-part docuseries, Williams broke down in tears while detailing her financial hardships after being placed under guardianship.

“I have no money,” she declares in the footage, which was later deleted from the trailer.

In the series, her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., also claimed that Williams’ court-appointed guardian hadn’t “done a good job of protecting” his mother.

Williams’ team announced that she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia as well as aphasia just days before the show aired.

Kevin Jr. later revealed that the comedian’s illness was “alcohol-induced.”
