Vanna White has worn more than 8,000 gowns in her career, but she doesn’t own any of them. She actually prefers to dress down.
In 1982, Vanna White was one of more than 200 women who auditioned to take over a vacant spot on Wheel of Fortune. She was introduced as a guest co-host during her first appearance and landed the gig permanently the same day. In the years since, she has become an icon in the game show world, and so have her gowns. While her expansive wardrobe has always fascinated fans, Vanna White hasn’t kept a single gown she has worn on Wheel of Fortune.

One might think a perk of Vanna White’s job is the killer wardrobe. Over the years, several actors and reality TV stars have acknowledged that they were allowed to keep their wardrobes or pieces from their wardrobes. That, apparently, isn’t industry standard, though.
Vanna White recently appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show with her son. During her chat, she opened up about her career and her wardrobe.
White revealed that over the course of the last 42 years, she’s appeared in over 8,000 episodes of the show. She wore a new gown for each of those episodes. Once she was done filming, the gowns went back to the wardrobe department, though. White was not permitted to keep any of the dresses she wore, but she said that she was allowed to borrow them for special events, including awards ceremonies.
Despite her job, Vanna White prefers to dress down
The famed TV personality wasn’t allowed to keep the dresses she wore on Wheel of Fortune, but Vanna White wouldn’t have much use for the gowns. During her chat with Drew Barrymore, she admitted that she prefers to keep it casual when she’s not on the clock. Her son, Nikko Santo Pietro, who appeared alongside White, revealed that his mom would spend entire days in pajamas if she had no plans. White defended her choices, noting that she spends a lot of time dressed up while working. White seems to embrace a nice change of pace while at home.
While Vanna White is not regularly caught out and about by paparazzi, it has happened over the years. Recently, she was spotted running errands near her Los Angeles home. In photos published by The Daily Mail, Vanna White is makeup-free while wearing a sweatshirt, leggings, and Ugg boots. Her hair, pulled back into a messy bun, is effortlessly cool. You really can’t get much more casual than that.
