Tori Spelling gets eye ulcer after keeping contact lenses in for days

Tori Spelling is wearing an eye patch after neglecting to take out her daily contacts lenses.

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum admitted in Monday’s episode of her “9021OMG” podcast that she developed an ulcer in her left eye because of her shoddy ocular habits.

“It’s my fault. I did this to myself,” she told co-host and bestie Jennie Garth.

“I have contacts but I wear daily ones. So. at the end of the day, whatever, I can make all the excuses I want. I don’t take them out. I sleep in them, and it’s not healthy, and you’re supposed to take them out.”

While Spelling, 49, did not reveal how long she had worn the contacts before developing the infection, she confessed that she has “been known to go maybe 20 days” wearing them.

Many fans were horrified by the “Stori Telling” author’s admission.

“Holy crap Tori! Change your contacts daily!!!” one Instagram user commented, while another wrote, “I jumped when I heard 20 😂😮.”

Even an expert chimed in.

“Friends, eyecare professional here. Pls do not sleep in your contacts and over wear them. An ulcer is painful and more scary it’s potentially blinding,” the guru wrote.

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a corneal ulcer is “an open sore on the cornea” and “usually results from an eye infection.”

People who are at risk include those who wear contact lenses, and the academy recommends that “if you wear contact lenses, safe handling, storage and cleaning of your lenses are key steps to reduce your risk of a corneal ulcer.”

Spelling sparked concern among fans in March when she was snapped rocking a bedazzled eye patch while out on the town with hairstylist Laura Rugetti.

A couple of days later, the actress posted a photo of herself in bed sporting a more low-key eye patch, explaining why she was adopting a pirate-inspired look.

“Thx to all the well wishes and concern. Everyone is asking if I scratched my cornea. It’s actually an ulcer on my eye. Antibiotic drops and Dr said it will ‘hopefully’ heal in 7-10 days,” she wrote alongside it.

Spelling has a long history of health ailments over the years, including being hospitalized last December for “high blood pressure and crazy dizziness.”

And in January 2022, the mom of five shared that her “entire family” had COVID-19.

On a happier note, though, Spelling’s up-and-down marriage appears to be on the upswing.

She and husband Dean McDermott were spotted enjoying a PDA-filled date on Valentine’s Day after being photographed numerous times without their wedding rings, fueling speculation that they were headed for a divorce.

The couple, who wed in 2006, share Liam, 16, Stella, 14, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, 6.
