Tina Turner, husband Erwin Bach bought $76M home in Switzerland less than 2 years before her death

Tina Turner and her husband, Erwin Bach, were still expanding their real estate portfolio less than two years before the legendary singer died.

The couple, who wed in 2013, shelled out $76 million for a sprawling waterfront estate in Zürich, Switzerland, in January 2022.

At the time, Bach told local newspaper Handelszeitung that he and Turner had decided to buy more property in the European country after gaining their Swiss citizenship. (Nonresidents are not allowed to own land in Switzerland.)

“[We] feel very comfortable in Switzerland,” Bach, who is a native of Germany, said.

In fact, they planned on using the home as a “new weekend retreat in the immediate vicinity.”

The impressive property features 10 different structures spread across over five acres of land. It also boasts its own private pond, stream, swimming pool and boat deck.

In addition to the hefty purchase, the pair own another estate in Küsnacht, where Turner died Wednesday at the age of 83.

“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

Prior to her death, the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll had been living abroad for years after starting her relationship with Bach in 1986. She even went as far as to renounce her US citizenship in 2013.

Aside from her romance with the former music executive, Turner chose to live abroad because she felt like her music was more widely accepted there.

“I have left America because my success was in another country and my boyfriend was in another country,” she told the late Larry King in 1997.

“Basically, Europe has been very supportive of my music.”

And yet, Turner remained out of the spotlight as she got older, officially retiring from the stage in 2009 after completing her 50th anniversary tour, one of the highest-grossing treks of all time.
