Royal family
Whoops! In one awkward moment after another this celebrity pair almost completely snubbed Prince Harry before trying to make up for it but accidentally shouting out Prince William.
Prince Harry has been in the news a lot lately amid reports that he hired a new PR specialist to rehabilitate his image on both sides of the pond ahead of the paperback release of his memoir Spare and his Netflix documentary about polo.
He’s made solo appearances at a number of events, including the Concordia Annual Summit and the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City for Climate Week. But before heading to the Big Apple, the Duke of Sussex attended an engagement held not far from his Montecito home. And that’s where a TV star made an embarrassing blunder by mixing Harry up with his brother, Prince William.
Awkward encounter as musician walks right past Prince Harry
On Sept. 20, Prince Harry was one of more than 3,000 guests who attended Fall One805LIVE!, which is a charity concert supporting Santa Barbara’s first responders hosted by Kevin Costner at the actor’s Summerland estate.
Harry was there to present an award to Santa Barbara County air support pilot Loren Courtney. The duke told the crowd: “As you’ve probably heard already, 22 years [of] military service over 10,000 hours and rarely sees his family because he’s always here flying helicopters. I learned in the military, you never leave anybody behind. We got him out. He spent almost a year in intensive care and then rehab, and now he’s walking, he got married. He actually went to the top of the Grand Tetons and proposed to his girlfriend after the accident.”
Some of the other celebrity guests on hand included Cameron Diaz, Zoe Saldana, Rob Lowe, and singer Richard Marx. But an awkward moment came as Marx exited the stage after a performance and didn’t acknowledge Prince Harry almost walking right past the duke who had been patiently waiting there to meet him.
Someone in Marx’s camp caught that and quickly alerted the “Right Here Waiting for You” artist that the royal was standing there. Marx looked a bit shocked and turned back to Harry who shook the musician’s hand and told him: “Well done.”
The exchange was caught on camera by Marx’s wife, Baywatch actor and TV host Daisy Fuentes, as she was recording her hubby coming off the stage.
Fuentes took to her Instagram Story to post about the behind-the-scenes moment at the concert. As Hello! noted when she shared the clip of her hubby talking to Prince Harry, she accidentally tagged the duke’s brother and sister-in-law’s Prince and Princess of Wales’ account.
Fuentes reportedly realized her mistake a while later and changed the tag to “Prince Harry of England.” That though, is actually a fan account as Prince Harry does not have his own Instagram account.
