In 2018 a rare pair of Rimowa-edition Pitch Black Adidas NMD-R1 trainers — similar to ones owned by him — sold for a whopping £18,000.
Ian, whose hits include Fools Gold and I Wanna Be Adored, tweeted: “I’ve sent most of my adidas collection to Africa!
“I love it that someone over there is runnin around in trainers that a collector would pay a fortune for!”
One fan replied: “Bless you. What kind actions and thoughts you have for humanity.”

Adidas outfits became synonymous with indie music and football culture in the 1980s and 1990s.
He starred alongside Noel Gallagher, David Beckham, Snoop Dogg and Franz Beckenbauer in a 2010 Adidas advert based on the Star Wars Cantina.
Ian previously said: “You’d feel physically sick if you saw my Adidas collection.”
He also revealed his love for the clothing brand came from a young age, when they had to buy bootleg versions of the garments.
Ian said: “We couldn’t afford it when you were kids.
“You wanted the t-shirts but you ended up with the market version.”
