‘The Recruit’ Star Noah Centineo Says Season 3 ‘Isn’t Promised’

The Recruit Season 2 is here! With the arrival of new episodes comes the question of what’s ahead for Owen Hendricks. Will he survive all the dangerous situations he constantly finds himself in for the Netflix original series to return? According to Noah Centineo, the actor who plays the newbie CIA lawyer, The Recruit Season 3 is a “maybe.”

Season 3 of ‘The Recruit’ ‘isn’t promised’

The future of The Recruit is in the hands of viewers. That’s what Centineo told Good Morning America ahead of season 2’s premiere on Jan. 30, 2025.

“It’s good work, and this felt like it just felt fun the whole time,” the 28-year-old, who is an executive producer on the series, said. “We poured a lot into this, you know, [and] the third season isn’t promised.”

Centineo continued, suggesting it hinges upon fan reactions and viewership. “So, if you guys really like it and love it, maybe we’ll get a third season,” he said. “I know that we certainly would love to do a third season, and I hope you guys like it.”

Netflix hasn’t confirmed ‘The Recruit’ Season 3

At the time of writing, Netflix hasn’t announced anything about The Recruit’s future. However, that doesn’t mean it won’t return. After all, season 2 only just began streaming. Not to mention the streaming giant typically waits to see how a series performs—Does it make their Top 10 list of TV shows? Is there a positive response from viewers?—before determining if it will move ahead with more episodes.

The Recruit season 1 premiered in December 2022, and was renewed for season 2 in January 2023. Following this pattern, it’s likely we might know by March 2025 whether The Recruit has been renewed for season three, but might have to wait two whole years before it lands.

‘The Recruit’ Season 2’s ending makes more episodes possible

After the big season 1 cliffhanger, the season 2 finale ends on a happier note. Owen did what he set out to do: reunite Jang Kyun Kim (Teo Yoo) with his wife. In the process, he also brought the NIS agent over to the CIA’s side.

Does that mean Owen will move to Operations in The Recruit Season 3? It’s certainly possible. But what about the CIA putting past failures on Owen’s shoulders when they thought he’d died in Russia? Fans will have to wait and see.

So, until Netflix announces whether or not it’s moving forward with The Recruit Season 3, fans can watch Seasons 1 and 2. Or check out other action-packed shows on the streamer, such as The Night Agent.
