The real reason Katie brought Hugh Hefner to my hotel room – and it’s not what you think, says Amy Price

KATIE Price’s mum Amy has revealed the former glamour model once brought Hugh Hefner to her hotel room – but not for reasons people might think.

In her book The Last Word, Amy explains how Katie, 45, had been staying at the Playboy Mansion for six weeks back in 2002, shortly after landing the magazine’s September cover.

The now-71-year-old had been looking after her infant grandson Harvey in Downtown LA, who had been born earlier that year with a rare brain development condition called septo-optic dysplasia.

But one morning at 1am, she was woken up with a mysterious knock at the door.

Amy remembers, “When I opened it, I found Hugh Hefner with eight of his bunnies – including my daughter – standing on the other side.

“Hefner told me: ‘You know, your daughter is a very naughty girl, don’t you?’ and before I knew it, Kate was snapping a photo of me and Harvey with Hugh and the other bunny girls.

“I know my daughter and at this particular moment she was a proud mum wanting to show off her child.

“But – on reflection – that was when I sensed the boundaries around her and our family’s private life were collapsing, and I didn’t like it.

“Despite our differences in opinion around Harvey’s public image, I couldn’t deny Kate was absolutely marvellous with her son.

“With my help, she began fighting for Harvey from day one.”

Harvey’s needs became more complex with age and his eyesight, hearing, moods, eating habits, lack of speech and lack of emotions soon became apparent, Amy writes.

He was later diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, pathological demand avoidance and a rare complex genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome.

Harvey’s father is former Manchester United midfielder Dwight Yorke, however the footballer doesn’t play an active role in his life.

Now 21, he recently appeared with Katie in a series of BBC documentaries about his transition to living more independently.
