The Prodigy in surprise career change five years after death of frontman Keith Flint

DANCE band The Prodigy are set to bring out a range of their own alcoholic drinks.

The ravers, known for hits such as Smack My Bitch Up, Firestarter and Poison, have applied to trademark their name under the classification of alcoholic beverages.

Their request, which was filed with the Intellectual Property Office, covers brandy, ciders, cocktails, wine, vodka, spirits and liqueurs.

It also covers a range of soft drinks and energy drinks.

The band formed in Braintree, Essex, in 1990 and is still going strong despite the death of frontman Keith Flint in 2019 at the age of 49.

Liam Howlett and MC and vocalist Maxim are the only original members remaining.

The band have had seven UK No 1 albums and two No 1 singles.

They took a four-year break but returned with a hit European tour.

Maxim said: “You can’t replace Keith. Who is going to try and fill his gap? There’s just nobody.

“If we got on stage and we didn’t feel it worked, then we wouldn’t do it.

“But, we were excited and we loved it and you can never tell until you do the first show.”
