The most streamed Nineties albums revealed with Oasis coming out on top – but which record was number one?

THEY are one of my favourite all time bands, so I am not surprised in the least that Oasis are at No1 and No2 in the most streamed album of the Nineties.

Radio 2 are celebrating the achievement on National Album Day next Saturday and will dedicate a two-hour show to running down the top 40 records, with the chart available on BBC Sounds from today.

Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory from 1995 and 1994’s Definitely Maybe come out on top, with Dr Dre’s 2001 in third position.

Nirvana are at fourth and fifth with Nevermind and Utero.

Noel Gallagher said: “I’m thrilled, but I wouldn’t say I was that surprised that (What’s The Story) Morning Glory has been voted the most streamed album of the Nineties.

“I still do have my faith in the taste of people in this country. I mean if you’ve got Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger on an album, you’re gonna be alright aren’t you?

“For certain people, it’ll be bringing back memories of their youth in the Nineties and that brilliantly amazing decade we all lived through and then for the young people coming to it now, the songs deal with just the universal truths of life, and they will always be timeless.”

His brother Liam recorded a video message for the show, hosted by radio legend Steve Wright, and said of Definitely Maybe: “Love that record, without it god knows where I’d be and god knows where we’d all be.

“I’ll be celebrating it in my own way next year by doing some gigs, so stay tuned and listen out for details in a bit.”

I’m glad to hear it.

A Lott of clobber

IT’S a sight becoming rarer than the blue supermoon – but Lottie Moss has finally put some clothes back on for a night on the tiles.

The younger sister of supermodel Kate looked classy in a pink, silk frock as she attended a private showing of the Walking In The Dark In London at The Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell.

HE is a Scottish football super-fan and now Sir Rod Stewart has finally got his hands on the World Cup.

The Maggie May singer shared a snap of himself holding the trophy on Instagram and asked his fans: “Is this as close as Scotland will ever get to the World Cup?”

I hate to break it to you, Rod, but I am pretty sure the answer is yes.

Who’s hat girl, Bey?

THIS Masked Singer disguise isn’t fooling anyone.

The US megastar wore this wacky extra large hat with cut outs so she could see where she was going in the hope of not being recognised.

But after the huge success of her Renaissance World Tour – which took in 56 dates across 39 cities in front of 2.7million fans – there’s no mistaking that it’s Beyonce behind the mask.

The Single Ladies singer finished her epic run, which raked in £470million, in Kansas City last week and she shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the shows on Instagram.

Fans who were unable to get tickets for any of the gigs, will get the chance to watch it in cinemas from December.

Bey is showing the tour as well as clips of her and daughter Blue Ivy rehearsing.

Hubby Jay Z also features in the film.

With Taylor Swift also releasing a film of her Era’s World Tour, I can sense a Barbie/Oppenheimer rivalry.

IT is gearing up to be one of the barmiest game shows on the box.

And now Prime Video has released the first trailer for their new James Bond themed series, 007: Road To A Million.

The series follows nine pairs of contestants who will embark on a series of challenges inspired by the fictional British spy in a bid to win £1million.

Brian Cox is the star and takes on a spy boss M-style role, where he gives orders to the contestants and monitors the incredible challenges.

The teaser reveals how pairs will visit iconic locations from the films, including the Atacama Desert from 2008’s Quantum Of Solace.

The show begins on November 10.

Macca’s flop

HE may be one of the world’s greatest living singer-songwriters, but Sir Paul McCartney wasn’t as impressive in his youth – if his whirl in a Butlin’s talent contest is anything to go by.

The Beatles legend performed at the holiday camp when he was just 11 after his dad James taught him how to harmonise.

But after taking to the stage with his brother Mike, Paul failed to impress the punters.

He said: “The Everly Brothers sang in harmony, so me and my brother did.

“We sang Bye Bye Love. We didn’t win – obviously not talented enough for the Butlin’s crowd.”

Speaking on his new podcast, McCartney: A Life In Lyrics, Paul also opened up about The Beatles’ relationship with Yoko Ono and confirmed she did affect their recording of Let It Be.

Paul said: “Things like Yoko being in the middle – literally in the middle – of the recording session was something you had to deal with.”

FANS of Manic Street Preachers and Suede are in for a treat, as they have announced a co-headline tour next year.

They will kick off their dates in Wales on June 28 before finishing their run in London on July 18.

Suede’s Brett Anderson said of working together: “I watch the Manics every night when we tour with them. It’s really inspiring to have a band that you love playing with you.
“It’s a friendly competition.”

Manics star Nicky Ware was just as gushing in a joint interview with Brett yesterday saying: “Watching Brett, everyone is in a rapture. It’s like a yoga workout watching him on stage.

“It’s unbelievable. The sweat and the frenzy.

“It just makes you raise your game.”
