Taylor Swift announces new album ‘Life of a Showgirl’ on ‘New Heights’ podcast

Taylor Swift announced she’s releasing new music during a surprise appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.

“This is my brand new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,” Swift said, which was met with a scream from Jason Kelce.

Swift’s jaw-dropping announcement comes after she purchased back her masters to her first six studio albums, “Taylor Swift,” “Fearless,” “Speak Now,” “Red,” “1989” and “Reputation,” in May.

“I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found that this is really happening. I really get to say those words,” the “Lover” songstress, 35, wrote in a handwritten letter shared via Instagram.

“All of the music I’ve ever made … now belongs… to me.”

Swift emphasized that she now owned “the memories, the magic, the madness, every single era, [and her] entire life’s work,” including her concert films, music videos, photography, album art and unreleased songs.

At the time, she told fans she would eventually release the vault tracks and admitted that she re-recorded her debut 2006 album, “Taylor Swift,” and loves “how it sounds now.”

However, the “Love Story” singer shared she had yet to finish re-recording her 2017 album, “Reputation,” despite fan speculation that she would be releasing it soon.

“Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about,” she wrote.

“But if it happens, it won’t be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now,” Swift added.

Scooter Braun notoriously purchased the rights to the pop star’s first six albums for $300 million in 2019 before Shamrock Capital acquired them a year later.

The former record executive allegedly made the slick move without Swift’s approval.

The “Cruel Summer” singer, however, signed onto a new deal with Republic Records and Universal Music Group in 2019 and recorded her later albums — “Lover,” “Folklore,” “Evermore,” “Midnights” and “The Tortured Poets Department.”

She also re-recorded and released four of her original albums she lost the rights to, which she retitled to include “Taylor’s Version.”

Swift’s new music release, meanwhile, comes after it was reported that she was diving into a “top secret” project after her record-breaking Eras Tour ended last December.

“Taylor was in Los Angeles on Thursday filming a new music video,” an insider told the US Sun. “It was so top secret that those working on set were not even allowed to hear the song, only the beat.”
