Sydney Sweeney boasts a high net worth thanks to her success in the film industry. The Euphoria star’s fortune should be able to afford her a comfortable lifestyle in theory. However, she shared that she still hasn’t adjusted to her newfound wealth for a surprising reason.
Sydney Sweeney shared what she really thinks of her fortune

Sweeney has been very candid about her and her family’s financial situation in the past. Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, her mom and dad supported her acting ambitions at an early age. But their lives changed after Sweeney’s father went bankrupt. Afterwards, the Sweeneys fully relocated to LA, allowing the Madame Web star to continue her acting pursuits. But they had to live in a small motel to save costs.
“We lived in one room. My mum and I shared a bed and my dad and little brother shared a couch,” she once said in an interview with News.Au. “Looking back now, it makes no sense, because if they couldn’t afford going back and forth, they were not going to be able to afford living in LA.”
Even after there was some movement in Sweeney’s acting career, she still found herself living below the poverty line. Her parents’ divorce only complicated her situation.
“I only had $800 to my name. My parents weren’t back together and there was nothing I could do to help. I never cried more in my entire life,” she said. “I hated going home and friends or family members being like, ‘When are you going to come home and get a real job?’. There were a lot of really condescending statements that would make me disappointed in myself and guilty that my parents had given up so much to allow me to follow my dreams.”
But her luck turned around after she booked her role in the series The Handmaid’s Tale. From there, her Hollywood career skyrocketed, allowing her to make a living off of her passion. Nowadays, Celebrity Net Worth asserts that she’s accumulated $40 million over the course of her career. Still, because of her background, Sweeney’s unsure if she’ll ever get used to her hard-earned wealth.
“I come from a family where I saw my parents lose everything, and I am terrified of that. That fear will always be instilled in me. I’m a huge saver,” she said in an interview with Glamour. “I don’t just go and spend money. I like to invest. I like real estate. I like making, hopefully, smart choices with the money I’m making. But I don’t think I’ll ever actually feel comfortable.”
Sydney Sweeney resented being told that her boyfriend paid her bills
Sweeney has recently sparked a lot of concern regarding her relationship with her boyfriend Jonathan Davino. It seems unlikely that the two will be walking down the aisle together like many originally thought. Right now, it’s unclear what caused the reported fallout between the couple. But before their relationship troubles, one of the biggest peeves Sweeney had was the assumption that Davino paid for their lifestyle. She hit back at the notion that she was leaning on Davino just because he was older. Davino is in his early 40s, while Sydney is 27-years-old. Despite the age difference, Sweeney reassured that she was more than capable of taking care of herself.
“I’m a very successful, independent woman who’s worked really hard,” she said, dispelling the rumors. “I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself, and I provide for myself and my family.”
Sweeney also took the time to clarify the dynamic of her relationship with Davino.
“I would love to set the record straight,” she continued. “You can be in a healthy relationship with someone and also be very successful without needing the man. We’re teammates. We’re in it together. And we want to see each other succeed.”
