Spotify Insiders Reportedly Mocked Meghan Markle with Stinging Diva Nickname

Meghan Markle’s Spotify drama isn’t over yet. The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly slapped with a scathing secret nickname by frustrated ex-employees who worked on Archetypes. Their claims fueled her alleged ‘diva’ reputation.

Meghan Markle’s stinging diva nickname

In 2022, Meghan Markle launched her first podcast, Archetypes. The Spotify talker focused on exploring stereotypes and labels that hold women back. It lasted one season and 12 episodes.

However, while creating and recording the podcast, Meghan’s un-royal behavior didn’t endear her to employees. Thus, royal correspondent Neil Sean told Fox News Digital that at work, the duchess was given a stinging diva nickname by her fellow employees.

“Ex-staff members told me they decided to christen her ‘Eva’ and this was used as a warning signal to let people know that she was either arriving or on the warpath,” Sean said. “This wasn’t an engaging pet nickname.”

The correspondent continued, “The nickname came from the 1955 camp classic Queen Bee starring the ultimate diva herself, Joan Crawford. This is because, like the Joan character [Eva Phillips], she stung her victims to pieces. This is exactly how staff felt about working alongside [Meghan].”

Consequently, Sean revealed Meghan was unaware of this stinging nickname. “According to the source, she had no idea about any of this,” he explained.

Meghan Markle’s reported diva-like behavior has been well-documented in the press

Royal correspondent Neil Sean isn’t the first to speak about Meghan Markle’s reported bullying behavior. Vanity Fair and The Hollywood Reporter have called out the Duchess of Sussex for similar behavior patterns in the past.

Additionally, Sean claims the staff at Archetypes found Meghan difficult to deal with. They felt she was “tough and bossy” and gave her a nickname they felt reflected her behavior. He added that Meghan’s actions contradicted her humble beginnings as a struggling actor before finding fame on Suits.

Sean isn’t the only royal insider who has spoken to those who worked with the headstrong ex-royal. Insiders reportedly called her “Duchess Difficult” due to her high expectations and strong opinions, a label Harry contradicted in the pages of his memoir, Spare.

Why did ‘Archetypes’ end after one season?

Archetypes failed to take off despite curiosity surrounding the podcast. It ended on Spotify after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s production company, Archewell Audio, parted ways with the streaming giant in June 2023.

There were claims the show didn’t meet expectations. Spotify executives hinted at a lack of consistent content, and one executive, Bill Simmons, even called the couple “grifters” to Variety. Ultimately, the show wasn’t renewed, and Archetypes ended after just one season.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not returned to the world of podcasting. Meghan will premiere a new Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, in March. Prince Harry is currently promoting his Invictus Games in Canada.
