SONGS about alcohol are vanishing from modern music — as young fans shun drinking, according to a study.
References to booze and getting hammered have plummeted by 79 per cent in five years, and some stars have slated it.

With a quarter of under-25s now teetotal, classic anthems like Cigarettes & Alcohol belted out by Oasis’ Liam Gallagher have been replaced by songs promoting cleaner living.
They include Ed Sheeran’s 2021 hit Bad Habits, in which he ends up “alone” after boozing.

Rapper Doja Cat ditches cognac in 2023’s Paint the Town Red, saying: “I’m so much more fun without Hennessy.”
Some stars like Adele have quit boozing while Taylor Swift has been in Diet Coke ads.
Alcohol references in top ten hits fell by 40 per cent in 2022 alone compared to 2021, according to analysis by DASH Water.
Its e-commerce head Holly Crossley said: “We’re much more aware of how things affect our mental wellbeing.
“Young people especially seem to be adopting a more mindful approach to drinking.”
