ACTOR Sergio Calderón has died at age 77 following a career in Hollywood spanning six decades.
Calderón’s most famous role may have been when he played the “head on a stick” held by an alien in the original version of Men in Black released in 1997.

He also played Captain Vallenueva in the 2007 movie Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End.
He died from natural causes at a hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the actor’s family said, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Calderón was born in 1945 and moved from his small village to Mexico City at age 10 where he began to study acting.

The thespian played many villains over the course of his long career.
“I love to play those types of characters, because people really hate me,” Calderón told the Los Angeles Times days before he died.
“They tell me in the streets how much they hate me. But to me, that is my success. Because that means I was able to convince people with what I performed.”
Calderón’s first role in the big screen came in 1970, when was cast in The Bridge in the Jungle, which was shot in Mexico.
Because the actor had been working as an English teacher, he was able to work on the movie for American audiences.
After Calderón was featured in the 1979 comedy “The In-Laws,” he was admitted to the Screen Actors Guild and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood.
