CBS has revealed new details about the highly anticipated Blue Bloods series finale.

Since premiering in 2010, nearly 300 episodes of Blue Bloods have aired on CBS. The show – which stars Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, and Donnie Wahlberg – reaches a dramatic conclusion with episode 293, titled “End of Tour.”

In the episode, “it’s all hands on deck for the Reagan family,” according to the synopsis. NYC’s top cop Frank Reagan (Selleck) and his clan are racing “to stop deadly mayhem in the city when the gangs of New York unite together to demand amnesty for the release of their imprisoned members and those awaiting trial.”

In addition to all of the core Blue Bloods cast members, the show’s series finale will feature a guest appearance from Academy Award-nominated actor Edward James Olmos.

Olmos will play a character named Lorenzo Batista. Based on photos from the episode, it looks like he might be one of the imprisoned gang members who the other gang members want released.

Other images from “End of Tour” offer hints about what to expect from Blue Bloods’ swan song. In one, Frank appears to be attending a funeral for a fallen officer. In another, Danny Reagan (Wahlberg) talks to Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray), who is in a wheelchair.

Eddie isn’t the only one recuperating in this episode. Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) is also in the hospital, where Frank pays him a visit.

So, who will fans feel about the series finale? Moynahan – who plays ADA Erin Reagan – says it’s a satisfying conclusion, but one that will leave viewers wanting more.

I think it’s going to be bittersweet in some ways.”
