Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was once on top of the world, but now that he sits in jail, more people — including his former publicist — are speaking out about their experiences.

Hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was once the person everyone wanted to hang out with. But over time, things slowly became revealed about Diddy’s lifestyle that had everyone questioning the kind of person he was.

Back in 2023, his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, sued him for abuse during their relationship, and after months of investigations, Diddy was arrested in 2024. Now, people who previously worked for the mogul are speaking out — including his former publicist, who said Diddy “always” had “guns” around the house.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs ‘always’ had guns in the house, former publicist says

When Combs was at the height of his career, it seemed like nothing could stop him. Diddy rose to fame in the 1990s with the establishment of Bad Boy Records back in 1993, where he signed some of the decade’s greatest talent in artists like Notorious B.I.G. and Usher. He had a music career of his own, too, and eventually began hosting parties — to which every celebrity wanted an invite.

But one of Diddy’s former publicists said that there was much more going on in Diddy’s head than met the eye; he was extremely concerned about two things: power and security.

“He was just figuring out that how he could get the most attention was to become the party king of New York,” Rob Shuter, who worked for Diddy from 2002 to 2004, told the BBC of the music mogul, referring to him as a “ringmaster” to whom few people ever said “no.”

“You don’t get to be Diddy… Unless the people around you were buttoned up. There was nobody around him sloppy.”

But Shuter also added that, besides power, Diddy was always concerned about his security. “There were always guns around Diddy … it was strange.” Shuter revealed that Diddy had a ton of security in and around his home, including guards who wore ankle straps with guns.

Suge Knight has a theory about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ alleged abuse

After Diddy’s arrest, celebrities scattered; nobody wanted to be associated with the mogul. However, Suge Knight, who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence for voluntary manslaughter, has spoken out about Diddy.

Knight believes that, while not condoning Diddy’s alleged abuse, part of the reason Diddy allegedly abused anyone is because he was a victim while coming up in the hip-hop industry. “I think it was done to him,” Knight told News Nation’s Chris Cuomo. “This been going on in the industry for a whole bunch of years.”

Diddy’s trial is set to begin in May 2025.
