Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Thinks He and Kanye ‘Ye’ West Can ‘Get Back on Top,’ Source Alleges

During the tense weeks of hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’s federal trial, Kanye “Ye” West made a striking show of solidarity. On June 13, 2025, West arrived nearly unannounced at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse wearing all white. Asked by ABC News whether he was there in support, he nodded and simply said, “Yes.” His presence echoed earlier public defenses. West had previously posted “FREE PUFF” to X, called Combs an “idol,” and even urged President Trump to “free” his friend. Now, a source alleges that Combs believes he and West can make a comeback together in the wake of his trial.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs allegedly thinks he and Kanye ‘Ye’ West can ‘rule Hollywood’ now that his trial has ended

Sean “Diddy” Combs breathed a palpable sigh of relief when the jury delivered a split verdict on July 2, 2025. While he was cleared of the more severe charges — racketeering and sex trafficking — he was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution. Previously facing the possibility of life in prison, Combs avoided the most severe penalties, prompting him to pump his fist, offer a prayerful gesture, and appear emotionally unburdened in the courtroom as he connected with his family.

Combs didn’t have much public support during his trial. However, his longtime friend, Kanye “Ye” West, stood by him through it all. West publicly supported Combs by posting in support of him on X and arriving at the courthouse. Now, a source alleges that Combs believes he and West can help each other rise through the ranks of stardom once more.

“Diddy is so grateful that Kanye stood by him — they think of each other as blood brothers now,” an insider told Globe, according to Yahoo. “They’re both convinced they can get back on top and basically rule Hollywood again together.”

The source alleged that Combs has plans to release “more singles and even an album” with West, and West “wants Diddy to get involved with his clothing range.”

Several attorneys don’t see Kanye ‘Ye’ West’s support of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs as a good look

Kanye “Ye” West’s public support of Sean “Diddy” Combs likely didn’t impact the jury’s final verdict on the case. And it might’ve actually hurt the public’s perception of Combs. In 2025, West deeply hurt his reputation by supporting Nazism and Hitler on X. And the comments he made about having dominion over his wife, Bianca Censori, also painted him in a negative light.

Attorney Tyrone Blackburn, who represented Combs’ ex-producer, Rodney Jones, called West’s demand to free Combs a “foolhardy request.” According to TMZ, Blackburn said West needed to start taking medication and stop exploiting Censori. “Birds of a feather flock together,” he added of West siding with Combs.

The damage to the hip-hop mogul’s reputation might be too difficult to overcome, according to experts

Can Sean “Diddy” Combs realistically make a comeback following his trial? He awaits sentencing on Oct. 3, 2025, to see how long he’ll spend behind bars after the verdict. Even if the judge lets him off easy, experts don’t think the public will allow for Combs to rise to fame.

“I do not think the court of public opinion will be forgiving,” Ann Olivarius, the founder of the McAllister Olivarius law firm and an attorney focused on women’s rights, told the New York Post. “The damage to Diddy’s reputation is real, and demonstrates that the world is watching and survivors matter, even if their abusers are powerful.”

“Once the wave of getting off on the more serious charges settles, the music business will pass judgment, and his reputation will be done,” David B. Allan, a professor of music marketing at Saint Joseph’s University, added. “Sean has always been great at PR and publicity, but there’s no coming back from this, as this is his legacy.”
