Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Post-Prison Intentions Boiled Down to Just 1 Sentence From His Lead Attorney

Following his highly publicized federal trial, hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs remains behind bars after being denied bail by the court. Prosecutors argued that the music mogul posed both a flight risk and a potential threat to ongoing investigations. This led the judge to order continued detention. Since entering custody, Combs has reportedly maintained a low profile with limited contact allowed. And his legal team has been working aggressively behind the scenes to appeal the decision. Here’s what his lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, recently said about Combs’ post-prison plans.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lead attorney says the mogul has ‘more to give’ after prison

On Oct. 3, 2025, Sean “Diddy” Combs will be formally sentenced in Manhattan federal court, concluding his high‑profile trial that resulted in convictions on two counts of transportation for prostitution. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian has denied multiple bail requests, citing both Combs’s history of violence and the court’s determination that he poses a flight and safety risk. According to federal sentencing guidelines, prosecutors are seeking a term in the range of 51–63 months (roughly four to five years). However, defense counsel argues for a lighter sentence of 21–27 months, pointing to perceived mitigating factors and Combs’ nine months already served in custody.

Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, spoke to Court TV about Combs’ post-prison plans. Rumors swirl that Combs might return to music. However, Agnifilo says he doesn’t know whether Combs has “thought that far ahead.”

“The phrase he uses with me, and I can share it because he said that I could, is he says he feels he has more to give,” Agnifilo clarified.

The attorney noted that Combs has “spent a lot of time reflecting” during this period. “He’s a religious man,” he continued. “He’s a man who has seven children. He takes care of them all, all of them.” Agnifilo also mentioned how Combs takes “good care” of the mothers of his kids. “He’s really a very caring, dedicated person. I think he wants to emphasize that part of his life.”

Music industry professionals claim Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs could make a comeback after prison

Is Sean “Diddy” Combs finished with music forever? Rumors suggest the mogul hopes to return to music after his trial. Industry insiders told NBC News that it’s certainly a possibility. However, Combs has to take accountability for what has occurred in the past.

“The path forward is probably going to require him to do something different than we’ve seen with other folks, which is really to engage with accountability, look at rebuilding trust now that we know so much more about the man behind the legend,” entertainment attorney Yemi Adegbonmire told NBC. “He has to put himself into a space that allows folks to feel comfortable listening to new music or accepting new ventures from him.”

Another one of the mogul’s attorneys encourages others to give him another chance

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, told Law&Crime Network that the mogul is working toward rehabilitation. Ahead of sentencing, she explained how he wants to change and is taking the proper steps to do so.

“Unfortunately, Sean has struggled with drug addiction for a long time,” Shapiro said. “I think one of the good things and positive things to come out of his incarceration [is] it’s given him an opportunity to rehabilitate. He’s committed to continuing that. He’s committed to a long-term program of therapy and helping with the domestic violence problem that he’s had in the past. At a certain point, you have to just — maybe it is a leap of faith, but you have to just give a person another chance. And he really is committed to change.”
