Royal family
Here’s how the Duke of York’s ex-wife, Sarah, appeared to fire back amid claims and criticism in a new book.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were married for a decade before their divorce was finalized in 1996. But the Duchess of York was exiled from the royal family even before that following her embarrassing toe-sucking scandal while they were still married.
Despite ending their marriage, the two still live together today on a royal property in Windsor. Over the years, the disgraced prince has been involved in many of his own scandals. And some of the allegations against him have been so damaging that he was forced to step down from his royal duties, and his public appearances since have been limited.
Now the new book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the Yorks by Andrew Lownie, is bringing to light more serious and troubling claims about Andrew’s private life. And Sarah has just seemingly responded to that during her latest public appearance.
Fergie attended a book signing for her new novel, Her Heart for a Compass, on Aug. 6. She posed for pictures during the event and shared a few on Instagram. The first snap in the carousel of shots shows Sarah sitting with a group of people, and some eagle-eyed fans took notice of what she wore on her feet.
Andrew’s ex-wife donned a pair of back slippers and on them were the words: “Never complain, never explain.” The motto is the royal family’s unofficial response to scandals and bad press.
Many are convinced that the duchess’s interesting footwear was a direct response to the claims and criticism in Lownie’s book.
