TV star Nicolas Coster has died aged 89, his family has revealed.
Nicolas was best known for his role in NBC soap Santa Barbara, which ran from 1984-1993.

The TV star’s daughter, Dineen Coster, broke the news in an emotional Facebook post, according to TVLine.
Dineen wrote: “There is great sadness in my heart this evening, my father actor Nicolas Coster has passed on in Florida at 9:01 pm in the hospital.
“Please be inspired by his artistic achievements and know he was a real actor’s actor! I will remember him as always doing his best and being a great father. Rest In Peace.”
Nicolas’ Santa Barbara co-star, Adolfo Martinez, also took to the social media site on Tuesday to share some words in honor of his former friend and colleague, the outlet reported.
Adolfo shared: “It was an honor to work in a company with him, and I’ll always hold his friendship and his sterling strengths as a professional close to heart.

“Unsolicited one day, he gave me this profoundly useful advice: ‘What you choose to do with a scene doesn’t have to be the probable thing. You can choose any course imaginable – no matter how unlikely – as long as it’s possible.'”
AN ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER
Nicolas was born in London in 1933, but was raised in the United States.
Early in his career, he worked alongside stars such as Elizabeth Taylor in theater, before transitioning to TV and film.
The soap star didn’t limit his appearances to Santa Barbara, having also appeared on All My Children and Young Doctor Malone among others.
In film, Nicolas earned a range of high-profile credits, including roles in Just You and Me, Kid, and Betsy’s Wedding.
