Sabrina Carpenter has espresso martini-chugging contest with Stephen Colbert: ‘I’m very drunk now’

Sabrina Carpenter and Stephen Colbert enjoyed sipping on some espresso martinis in honor of her chart-topping song “Espresso” during her appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” Thursday.

The late night talk show host, 60, first asked the pop singer, 25, if she would indulge, and she responded, “I would love that.”

When Carpenter realized the drink was “very good,” she suggested, “Should we do a chugging contest?”

Colbert immediately accepted the challenge and did not hold back, prompting the “Please Please Please” singer to jokingly tell him, “That’s so terrifying how fast you drank that.”

“Well, these desks come at a price,” the comedian quipped back.

Colbert then diverted the conversation toward her whopping six Grammy nominations, but Carpenter admitted with a laugh, “I’m very drunk now” before pushing aside the martini glass.

However, she was then able to respond, sharing that “probably in five years” she will be able to look back on this time in her life and really process it all.

“I’m just trying to make eye contact with you and be as present as I can,” the “Bed Chem” singer joked.

“Do you know what I mean? But, I feel so lucky. Singing is all I’ve ever wanted to do. Writing songs is my favorite thing in the world, so the fact that I could do it and people listen is sentimental but it’s a gift.”

Carpenter is up for best pop solo performance, best new artist, song of the year and record of the year at the Grammys. Her album “Short n’ Sweet” is nominated for album of the year and best pop vocal album.

In November, the “Feather” singer shared a video of her breaking down in happy tears over the news.

Later in her interview with Colbert, the host brought out another beverage for Carpenter to try: an eggnog he dubbed “eggnog-o.”

“Do you not f–k with a ‘nog? It’s a simple question, Ms. Carpenter. Do you not f–k with a nog?” he asked, prompting the “Nonsense Christmas” singer to be taken aback a bit by him cursing.

When he asked if she was “surprised” he used a bad word, she responded, “No, I’m not because they told me I can curse backstage, and I forgot because usually people are telling me not to curse.

“So, I came out here and it looks like a church in here a little bit, and so I was, like, ‘Don’t curse. The Lord is upon us. I shouldn’t do that’ and then you just did that.”

Carpenter wrapped the fun and light-hearted interview by sharing, “I do f–k with the ‘nog now that you mention it.”
