Ryan Reynolds jokes about Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal drama on ‘SNL 50’ anniversary special

Ryan Reynolds made a joke about his wife Blake Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni as they put on a united front at the “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special” in New York City.

In a clip from the show, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler called out the “Deadpool” star as he sat in the audience alongside Lively.

“Ryan Reynolds! How’s it going?” he was asked.

In response, Reynolds poked fun at the recent “It Ends With Us” drama, quipping, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”

The couple appeared to be in good spirits while making their first red carpet appearance since the “Gossip Girl” alum filed her sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni — her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director.

The actress wore a silver sequined gown to the comedy special and accessorized with matching silver heels and droplet earrings.

The “Deadpool & Wolverine” actor, who opted for a classic black tuxedo, embraced his wife while posing for photos on the red carpet.

Lively, 37, and Reynolds, 48, were seen mingling with other guests ahead of the show, including Dakota Johnson.

The night before, the pair snapped a selfie with Chevy Chase as they stepped out to celebrate Chris Rock’s 60th birthday.

Reynolds and Lively have not made a red carpet appearance together since August 2024 for the “It Ends With Us” premiere in NYC.

Four months later, in December 2024, the “A Simple Favor” star filed a complaint against Baldoni accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliation.

The “Jane the Virgin” alum, 41, denied Lively’s claims against him and filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against the New York Times for its reporting on her claims against him.

Baldoni also filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds for alleged defamation and extortion.

This past week, Lively’s legal team subpoenaed Baldoni’s text messages in an effort to gather evidence about the actor’s alleged smear campaign against her.

“Ms. Lively has initiated discovery that will expose the people, tactics, and methods that have worked to ‘destroy’ and ‘bury’ her reputation and family over the past year,” her attorneys, Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, told Page Six in a statement.

“We will now receive all of the ‘receipts’ that, unsurprisingly, are nowhere to be found on Mr. Freedman’s website, and like Ms. Lively, those ‘receipts’ will have their day in court,” they added.

Lively’s attorneys were referring to the website that Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, launched to share alleged evidence with the public to defend his client.

Lively and Baldoni’s respective legal teams requested on Thursday to be exempt from the district court’s mediation program.

In the joint letter written to Judge Lewis J. Liman and obtained by Page Six, the parties stated they “agreed that settlement discussions would be premature.”

A trial date has been set for March 9, 2026.
