COMEDIAN Romesh Ranganathan broke down in tears as he opened up about his secret past.
The Weakest Link host told The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett about having dark thoughts about wanting to kill himself.

Romesh, 44, opened up about his family tragedies that turned his life around.
When he was 12 years old, Romesh’s dad Ranga was sacked and their house was repossessed.
Soon after leaving their home to move onto a council estate, father’s affair was exposed and he disappeared for two days.
When Romesh’s mum told him to search for his dad at his mistress’s house, they were told he’d been arrested and ended up in prison.

“My world had been turned upside down so completely”, Romesh said.
“Unbeknown to me, my dad wasn’t doing great at work. He was a lose cannon, he drank a lot and was a bit of a womaniser.
“He got fired from his job… I remember my mum saying we’re going to have to move out of this house, it’s getting repossessed because we can’t keep up with the mortgage payments.

“We ended up moving to a council house. While we were there my mum found out my dad had started an affair and was intending on leaving us.”
Ranga ended up in prison, Romesh and his mum took up work as a cleaner and they lived in a room in a Bed and Breakfast.
After everything he’d been through, Romesh was left suicidal.
He admitted: “I have a horrific voice in my head. I’ll always have this inner belief I’m a bit sh****.
“I was thinking about taking my own life regularly, and I’d fantasise about it…
“I think that all comedians are wired slightly differently. They’ve had something happen to them that has made them an outsider in some way.”
Despite their troubled relationship, Romesh ended up being in a good place with his dad.
He sadly passed away suddenly of a heart attack in 2011 while he worked as a teacher before finding fame as a comic.
