ROMAN KEMP has his sights set on one day quitting showbiz to travel the globe.
He’s got the world at his feet as host of the Capital Breakfast show and a flourishing TV presenting career.

But he said in an exclusive interview: “Some people are different. To me, it’s about being outside and being able to travel around the world.
“That’s something I’ve never done. I’ve been working since I was 16 and I never got to do that.”
He has his head screwed on the right way thanks to his parents Martin — the actor and Spandau Ballet bass player — and Shirlie, former backing singer with Wham!.
Then there was the guidance from his godfather, the late George Michael.
Roman said: “Having parents who have been through the industry and a godfather who’s been through the industry in the way that George Michael did, you realise the thing everyone’s chasing isn’t actually that great.
“Yes, money is fantastic but other than that, it’s just a bit boring.
“My big worry is I zoom out at the end of my career and I go, ‘My god, I spent my whole time just trying to get people to like me’.
“I don’t perceive life as walking down red carpets. It’s about having a family and raising kids that are nice people in the world.”
Roman is heading to uncharted waters as host of new BBC One quiz show The Finish Line, alongside former Blue Peter presenter Sarah Greene, which launches at 4.30pm on Monday.
He said: “Even though I do quizzes every day on the radio, it is intimidating and certainly a skill to do this show — it’s just one I had to learn.
“My relationship with Sarah isn’t serious, we’re pretty cheeky on set.
“The only serious thing is that I had to wear more reserved cloth- ing but that’s just BBC clothing.
“I can’t go on there looking how I look on Gogglebox.”
Roman’s also fronting the documentary Boot Dreams that starts on BBC Three and iPlayer tomorrow.
It follows footballers rejected by the top clubs, trying to earn a professional contract by overcoming mental health struggles.

QUEEN fans hoping to get a slot at Sotheby’s auction house to bid on lots from the late Freddie Mercury’s London home might be out of luck.
Demand for the 1,500 items from his Garden Lodge home in Kensington is thought to be so high, it’s likely only dealers will get in.

A source said: “Sotheby’s simply don’t have the space to accommodate hundreds of people.
“They will target their preferred customers and serious collectors and dealers.
“They have mooted making it a black-tie event, to bring back a little class from the 1980s.
“It will be the hottest ticket in town. Fans will be able to watch on a live stream.”
It was revealed Freddie’s long-term pal and ex-love Mary Austin decided to put the items up for sale.

The Skinny Love singer, whose fifth album Portraits came out yesterday, tells me a duck she saved during the pandemic had two babies recently.

Birdy said: “I rescued her in lockdown as she fell into someone’s swimming pool.
“Then slowly, she naturally wanted to go back to the wild, so she did.
“But she has been coming back every year.
“She came back this year and she has had two babies – and now I have three ducks, which is really sweet.
“We have called them Tik and Tak. Pee Tree is the mother.”
Despite Portraits having an 11-strong track list, Birdy tells me she has so many more which didn’t make the cut that a special version of the album is already on the cards.
She revealed: “With this record, there are quite a few that didn’t make it and are still floating around.
“I find it really hard deciding between them. But maybe they will come out later on a deluxe version.
“It does feel like picking between your children because when you first write something, you are attached to it and think it’s the best thing ever.
“Then over time, things change and you compare it to others.”
MILEY GIVES GUILT SHIRT SHRIFT
MILEY CYRUS is getting shirty to promote her new single Used To Be Young.

Calum said: “I know it would mean taking a kid on tour with me but I asked my band and they didn’t mind.
“There is never a right time. You want to make sure you can give a child a safe and happy life but you don’t want to take your foot off the gas when it comes to your career.”
Until then, Calum is focusing on his third album and added: “I am still going to do the ballads but I wanted to lead with something more fun.”
DRAKE has ditched his trademark shaved head in favour of huge bunches, which he secured with pink clips in this Instagram snap.
