Rock legend threatens to send crowd member home in an ambulance at disastrous gig dubbed ‘world’s slowest car crash’

A rocker stunned the crowd by hurling abuse and threats from the stage – and the cushion of his wheelchair.

The heavy metal icon left concert goers shocked by swearing and ranting at them throughout his show before telling one fan “I’ll punch you in the face”.

The gig in Perth, Australia, was cut short after the British singer interrupted songs to moan about everything from “jet lag, being tired, the weather, the sound and his microphone”.

Things reportedly turned nasty when he shouted insults at one female punter standing near the stage, telling her to “shut the f**k up” and “stop drinking, or drink more”.

Another fan was told to “call a cab or go home in an ambulance” from the concert at The Gov in Adelaide.

A review written in Australian magazine Wall Of Sound claimed the show descended into chaos after former Iron Maiden singer Paul Di’Anno’s mood went from bad to worse.

And fans streamed out of the exits.

According to writer Gareth Williams, 65-year-old singer Di’Anno, who has been wheelchair-bound after undergoing knee surgery, stopped the concert mid-song and called the sound technician a “****”.

The writer likened the mood to “the stages of grief” when, after a promising 30 minutes, the atmosphere plummetted into a state of “depression”.

He said Di-Anno wriggled around in his chair before whipping a cushion from beneath him and chucking it across the stage.

Williams added: “Di’Anno looked like a defeated man.”

After Di’Anno was wheeled off stage one of the band members said: “We were meant to do more songs for you guys. You deserved it, but he’s not feeling well.

“He apologises … He’ll come next time and do more shows for you guys.”

Di’Anno is due to continue his tour of Australia in Sydney and St Kilda.

The legend contributed to two iconic albums with Iron Maiden: the self-titled Iron Maiden in 1980 and Killers in 1981.

However, he was kicked out of the band, paving the way for Bruce Dickinson, the current longtime vocalist.

Post-Iron Maiden, Di’Anno led various bands like Killers and Battlezone, while also launching solo albums.

It comes as Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain last year revealed he suffered a stroke which left him paralysed just months before the band began rehearsals for their latest tour.

The 71-year-old feared his career was over after he lost movement down the right side of his body.

Nicko had 10 weeks of “intense therapy” just before he was due to start rehearsals for Iron Maiden’s The Future Past Tour 2023.
